Man that was so weird seeing that in the first like........10 episodes of TNG. I still to this day can't figure that one out. It's like they wanted to see if we were paying attention or something.....

I always suspected it was showing that biological sex or gender (no...gender and sex are not identical) were meaningless or neuter...but it just never fit the late 20th century mind set...so it was scrubed. Reguardless I agreed...it did look silly, but admit I never found it odd myself. Either way thanks for the levity OP.

I was more horrified by Captain Decker in Star Trek the Motion Picture. The scene in particular is the one after the transporter accident in the early part of the movie. Kirk comes out of the transporter room, sees Captain Decker staring at him and the two eyeball each other for a moment.

All I could think of was, "Dude, your thing is showing through the thin spandex....go change or something."

Now those were some dumb-arse uniforms.

I was much, much happier when they went to the red coat uniforms.

The future "Man Skirts" were a bad look, even the costuming staff thought so. From the second season on, the unis started to look better and alot cleaner in design/layout. We can only hope the manskirt was removed from the federations replicators as a whole...

just saw the episode that manskirt picture was from yesterday. Been I long time since Ive seen season one episodes didn't even know the men wore those things. I hope we can have the white uniforms that the crew is wearing in Nemesis at Riker and Trois wedding reception, maybe we can wear them for special occassions such as having dignitatires aboard our ships.

I hope they give us access to every uniform we've seen. I think the more options we have the better. I would love to have the TOS movie uniform from Star Trek 2-6.
