NPC Controlled Ships

I don't know if this has been talked about in other threads, but I'm wondering about NPC controlled ships patrolling borders or guarding bases or key planets? As with other MMO's there are usually guards stationed outside cities and towns to help fight of Raids and such. Normally we didn't see a lot of that in the various series, but with the two sides at war it’s reasonable to assume that they would have ships stationed to guard certain areas. This would also open up the ability for attacks behind enemy lines. It would also make it harder for a single ship to just wreak havoc on the universe.

Anything is a possibility. Certainly starfleet and the kdf have multitudes of ships (its estimated starfleet has anywhere from 4000-16000 ships, varies according to sources). It would only make sense to have npc starbases and ships

I expect to see NPC ships.
For example,until the STO expansions cover the Romulan Empire and the Cardassians,I would expect there borders to be guarded by a Fleet of computer-controlled vessels.

Like you said with every other mmo game there are guards, heck i think every rpg will have guards near cities so i dont see why this one wont. Like it was said i should add more of danger for when your trying to sneak into enemy space.

I would put money down on their being NPC ships. I know there will have to be NPC ships for missions (escort missions, defense missions) and so on. I just hope that we can board ALL ships NPC and Player (other factions of course, unless a mission calls for it). I would love to board a Klingon ship and wipe out the crew! Feddies arent so weak after all! Muahahaha.

We will have NPC controlled vessels...else PvE may be non existant.

I hope that Romulan space is gauded by a fleet of ships.....Since there will ve a minimal death penalty i would like to take a fleet of my own now and again and just have amassive fleet battle. Would be great to watch

Then the next day theres a news reel ingame saying a rogue federation fleet tried to invade romulan space but where met with fierce resistance and inturn where destroyed
