I love the original klingon academy but it does not work well on vista and is a bit out dated.
The first person view it has for fighting is the best. It also had a lot of detail in the ship areas to control. You can also control the entire ship using the game commander voice recognition software and a programmable joystick. If it were to be made just follow the klingon academy design to the letter and then add beaming to the planets for exploration, gathering money and technology, and phaser fights on the planets. Also upgrade the graphics and sound to todays technology. (Hopefully the graphics could be done a lot better than star trek legacy.) I actually think the ship destruction in KA looks better than legacy.
Another thing that could be added to KA2 is a damagable bridge view.
Multiplayer should have some sort of conquer mode where you try to control as much of the planets as possible and team death match.
Also you should be able to beam to planets and take a shuttle to the planets. You should be able to do a full repair at a space station and you should be able to manually fly your ship into the space station and out.
I don't want the game to be a monthly fee. I prefer to just buy it once and have that be it.
Greetings...Since this is your first post I be easy on you..Klingon acedemy? Thats a great idea.

Thanks. Does that mean you like Klingon Academy?
I think this game looks cool but I don;t think I have enough time to devote to a game like this. I prefer playing a game about 1 to 2 hours a week and don't want to have to pay a monthly fee. I like to own my games, not rent.

I never played the game, but the concept sounds good though. Well the way STO is makeing the game, you can be a hardcore player or casual one, your choice. As far as renting than owning, well since this will be the only true Star Trek experience in a MMO, I would give it a shot for a month or so to see if you like it..If not, you can always cancel.

I'll definitely check this game out, if I have time. I hope you can control it with game voice and a programable joystick. I also want to have first person view like Klingon Academy. I bought KA back in 2000 for 44 dollars and they have yet to release a better flight sim or trek game to date. You probalby could get the game today for less than ten bucks, but it wont run on Windows Vista properly.

Hope fully the planets will have destructable stuff trees ect. like the Crysis pc game. It would also be nice if the fighting on the planets had a duck and cover system like rainbow six vegas.
I wish I had at team so that I could make Klingon Academy 2.

The title is dead and legally inaccessible
There is alot of stuff over at Interplay forums regarding these dead titles, but this really sums it up:

Hi Chris, thanks for being active on the boards. Congratulations on the new project.
I have asked the good people at GOG.COM about the Interplay Star Trek Titles, of course they are probably stuck in some kind of legal rights bindings.
I copied this, I assume it is accurate:
Star Trek: 25th Anniversary
Star Trek: Judgment Rites
Star Trek: Klingon Academy
Star Trek: New Worlds
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - Strategic Command
Star Trek: Starfleet Command
Star Trek: Starfleet Command Volume II: Empires at War
Any chance you could ask about Interplay's position? Seems like with the other Star Trek projects coming, this is a good opportunity for whoever is holding rights. Even Interplay could get a great benefit from brand recognition. Those games were awesome.
GOG.COM is DRMfree distribution. I fear that people are holding back a wonderful opportunity just so they can have irrelevant copy protection, and not have to bicker about holdings. That would be a pity.
Maybe you could pass that on.

Interplay no longer can distribute any of its Star Trek games.
Problem is - those are Interplay titles, stuck in legal limbo
Don't ever expect to see them or sequels again.
Similar to what has happened to the Activision rights, and about any other non-Bethesda title out there.

it was a nicce game at the time.
and it was nice they took on the klingon race instead of another federation dominant side.
but the game was designed alot like a jet fighter game joystick style of play.
I think if cryptic keeps to there guns on this game design and take some good ideas from posts frome this site.
it will have alot of different game aspects that will appeal to a large player base.

I really liked Klingon Academy, and while I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to it, I hope that Star Trek Online incorporates some of the concepts from the game because I believe it did some things exceedingly well.

KA was the bee's knees...I loved it...I exceled at it...I would absolutly love to see a sequel or its real-time tactical combat put to use in STO.
