I am curious since majel barret has died will cryptic opt for a new starfleet computer voice for the 25th century, find someone that sounds like her, or make a voice synthesizer from all of the episodes in which they need to release it so itll work with windows voice like microsoft sam. im just curious what you guys think and hopefully get an answer from cryptic if they know themselves yet and can release the info.

I certainly hope they keep her voice for Federation ships. Not only because it has been her voice for so long, but as a form of respect for her passing and her contribution to Star Trek over the years.

I would really, really like to see her voice used in the game, but I think it might be difficult because then if there were some sounds that the developers would need to create specifically for the game there would be some inconsistency.

It would def be awesome if your ship had a computer voice. Keeping the system requirements 'universal' might mean the computer interaction is text based tho. That's my thought anyway. It would be nice to have certain things be voiced by her. Like maybe the alerts or something. Or the every popular "captain you have a message from starfleet" :P

I don't see why they couldn't build a full vocabulary of everything the computer would need to say by making a huge sound board from sound clips from all the show's episodes and movies.
I think there are more sound bytes that they could ever use in game.

I agree that it would be very cool to use some pre-recorded lines of dialogue from Majel Barrett for the Federation computer systems in Star Trek Online. The concern would be if Cryptic could find everything they'd need from the various shows, and whether or not there would be background noises mixed in that would make the dialogue unusable.
If it would not be feasible to use existing dialogue from Majel Barret, I would hope they can use Judi Durand (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Judi_Durand), who provided the voice for the Cardassian computers in Deep Space Nine, and has provided dialogue for Starfleet computers in several Star Trek games by Activision and Simon & Schuster. Judi Durand was also the voice of the Spacedock computer in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Check out Judi Durand's IMDB.com page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0243804/) to see all the other stuff Judi Durand has worked on.
The question arises, who will do the voice for the Klingon computers?

Lol During red alerts the computer could yell 'avlaQ!!!
I've sometimes wondered how certain actors would sound trying to pronounce tlhIngan Hol words. He would be funny.

Something like that, I hope. ;)
Wesley spliced Picard's voice in the ep "Naked Now" so I hope the Cryptic developers can also splice Majel Barrett's voice from all the recordings she'd done.
I'm sure there are those folks who can't stand her anyway but they'll have to deal with it, hehe.

Absolutely. Judi Durand would also be a good choice.
