My Dear Captains,

As we are gathered here today, I petition that we speak up and ensure that Majel Barrett Roddenberry (Number One, Nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi, Computer Voice) along with James Doohan (Scotty), and Deforest Kelly (Dr. McCoy) all three should have a place in the opening credits "In Memory Of" on the New Star Trek Movie!

I am sure that this is already being done, but a few thousand more "voices"from us will ensure it from our Representatives of Atari to Paramount.

Let it be so....

Blame it on a brain fart or something but how (/facepalm) in the world is it going to help putting any recognition into a movie...from here... a game forum...just by posting /signed...?

I agree with you on this don't get me wrong. Just seems like a waste of bytes starting this thread (unless it will actually help).

I personally believe that your heart is in the right place ... BUT .. I'm wondering if there is a way to get the Dev team MOD to review this request and see fi there is a better way to get that petition or request into the proper hands at Paramount in order for it to have a proper impact.

Good idea ... but let's see if we can get some assistance from the right folks on this one!

I figured "where are the Trekkies & Trekkors"? Many of them should be here at one time or another until Movie release date.

SOOOooo, if there are enough ballots cast, then someone higher up in the forum epchelon will take it and send it where it needs to go.

I believe we are witnessing an end to a huge era, and every episode, series, movie, game (whether MMO or other), ought to have a credit given to the Original cast as they move on into the "Undiscovered Country".

It has been a tradition so far for Star Trek Movies to list the passing on of it's key figures, it just so happened that alll 3 have passed on prior to this next episode in the Star Trek genre.

I am sure Majel wil get credit, but I would like to see Mr. Doohan and Mr. Kelly be memorialized as well.

Sort of a marker for future generations of Trekkies & Trekkors to see as they watch re-runs on their blu-ray or whatever ray they have in the future.

"This is Tribbler and I endorse this message."

Without them we would not have the Star Trek we have grown to love. Don't foreget Gene. Without Roddenberry we would have no ST at all.

An honorable request but...

There may be a better section to post this in as I believe petitions are not allowed :(

I totally agree! It might be neat to see the game dedicated to the people involved with Star Trek that we have lost as well.

I can see doing it for Majel, as it seems appropriate. The fans I would say are in unanimous agreement on her. The others may have had previous dedications devoted to them (too lazy to look it up, I'll leave that to someone else). I would agree with Majel but if we were to do the other like James and DeForest, I can think of one that is missing that would make some upset if we went with just this list above which is Gene.... Why would we dedicate to Scotty and McCoy with Majel and not dedicate it to her husband Gene who created it and has also passed?

I believe it was the season 3 opening of TNG that the "Dedicated to Gene Roddenberry" flashed on Screen prior to the show starting, but he was definately honored. I may be mistaken though and it might of been one of the Movies.

I must watch the first few minutes of each episode and movie to be sure. Also, there were honorable mentions to others in Star Trek such as Directors, Writers, and a few others. I remember this vaguely, but I have seen it a few times throughout the years in Star Trek episodes and movies.

Great idea, am all for it....wrong place. The folks making that movie prob don't even
look at or care about STO directly.

I may suggest you post this excellent suggestion on the film companies forum.

But still great idea.

Thank-you Father_Origin!

I am betting that there will be alot of handshaking between Atari/Cryptic and Paramount over the next few months, and I am hoping that "On behalf of the STO Community" might be discussed between them.

realistically, no they won't.

game companies...react to what the movie makers do...not the other way around.

it goes something like this...paramont owns the IP so they can do whatever they want.
cryptic (now atari) is paying permission to make a game based on it.

sortta like asking the manufacturer of a disney lunch box to tell disney
you think they should change Micky's outfit to something different in the next disney movie.

the manufacturer would reply...the only folks we get to talk to are
vender accounting and if we mess up disney legal.

Don't feel bad, for the longest players in SWG thought that what they did in game should
reflect in the next installment of star wars......pipe dream.

On the contrary,

The Star Trek Movie franchise listens to the needs of the fans prior to making their movies, and as far as I can tell, this is the only thing happening in the entire star trek franchise atm. So that being said, the movie industry is interested in knowing what the fans would like to see.
