They have mentioned transwarp conduits and wormholes for travling long distances but what about slipstream technology or temporal technology?

Or using a synaptic interface to control your ship? What about cloaking technology? Will that be quest earned, bought, invented by your crew, an upgrade earned through leveling up, or ship specific?

Just a few thoughts....Any ideas?

I remember in the last show of TNG, they had quantum slip stream drive tech. The game is going to be based 40 yrs in the future....I want mine....

um.

which 'all good things...' were you watching? and whatever you were smoking, i want some. :p

slipstream, which was on voyager, was an alien tech from the delta quadrant, from what i remember, was totally wiped out by borg, well, at least most of them. voyager did try to implement the same tech, but they failed, but with 30 years of federation ingenuity, the only plausible reason they would keep it out of the game is if you had slipstream and you got to places to fast and to quick, thus making the universe that much smaller.

i mean, slipstream would have cut the voyagers trip in half. thats no small task when talking about, at that point in the series, what was it, like 50,000 light years?

TNG 4x19 'The Nth Degree' supports direct neural control of starships in a very agreeable way. Romulans used a remote neural interface for their crewless holoships. So there's certainly precedent. The problem is that onscreen canon shows or alludes that future ships are still controlled in the same old inefficient manner as always.

Slipstreams could be cool for special modes of travel. I'd love to see that as a very high level reward.

They did get it to work but found it not safe to use

Although I cannot really see slipstream technology becoming one of the primary methods for transportation, I think it might be a good element to incorporate into some missions since it is obviously a somewhat large part of the Star Trek universe.

Devs did say there will be time travel, which it is possible your ship could be equipped for a temporal drive (temporarily), but I doubt you can time travel at will.

As for Slipstream and Synaptic interfaces, it's possible that those could be alien tech you could have access to.

Cloaking Devices, the Devs did confirm that it will be in the game and accessible to both Federation and Klingon Factions.

New upgrades your crew come up with, yes that is also in the game.

I remember Riker sayin something about it, I remember telling one of my friends about it later in a RPG we were doing, cause I had made up The Quantum Slipstream Drive in our game. Then in " All Good Things " Riker's Modified Enterprise had it.

The way it was explained to me is that the future seen in 'All Good Things' is just one of an infinite number of possible futures and cannot necessarily be considered canon.

I can see this being part of a quest and possibly as high end reward much later in the game.

well, mental control of a ship does have certain drawbacks...telepathy is the main one.

no need to defeat a ship, just have a telepath hack into the brain of the science officer...
bad

also, the brain can have bad days....migrain

hard to put fail-safes into a brain

NOW, that said, I see no problem with a mental controlled shuttle, or attack shuttles (fighters),
those vehicle were designed for 1 person/thing to control them.

On an interesting side note, there was a Next Gen episode where Q took Picard into
the future and 'something about a rift in space caused by enterprise' and the future
doctor (deep space 9 guy I think) mensions 3D controls, which he prefered, unlike the 'older'
Enterprise designed controls....not really sure how cryptic could impliment that though.
