this is a question about client availability .. if it will also be available for download or simply by cd ?

for the sugestion

i know that the player maned ships(1 ship with multiple of players crew members) has bin determined that will be called off .. for simple purpus of job related and other... but i was thinking about it and it would be an intresting aspect thought to play with other players with in the same ship ...

so here is what i think could be made to satisfy the need of public since i noticed that some players actualy was looking forward to playing in the same ship as an engeneer or medic and so on ..
when players want to go on a ship to fight in the same ship ...

replacable npc .. in other words ... for example ... a tactical officer/captin player wants to be a tactical officer abord a friends ship ... the player would simply beam aboard the ship and releave the npc from duty
when player is off to work doing what so ever ... the npc takes back controle of that station ... the player from log on would return to his ship or from a command of some sort ... per ship have a limit of 5 to 6 players (1 player for each stations there will be ) when you are missing a crew member (player) give the order to your tactical npc to return to station ... that will give the players a ship playable in multi or solo depending on what they prefer or availability of crew member:cool:

from basics in computer knowledge i know that would imply game mods .. but lets say a future patch or something ... ?

I am going to assume that digital download of the client will be available for the PC as early as possible. Whether or not they will charge $$$ for it remains to be seen. Many successful subscription (and most free-to-play) MMO's offer free client download as a fish-hook to reel you in, but this usually occurs AFTER they are successful and are marketing for new players. I have developed the habit of ALWAYS buying a hardcopy of any purchase I make. I generally like the 'extras' that come with the disk, including the box itself. I might consider a digital download if the price was radically lower than the hardcopy, but my experience has been that they usually charge the same and your only savings is on shipping. I'd rather pay for the stamp and get a disk that I can use to reinstall anytime I want rather than having the headache of calling a usually less-than-perfect customer service representative in India just because I lost my email reg key.

I support the NPC bridge crew system that Cryptic has announced and implemented, but after further review I would like to see some endgame content that would allow players to all interact as a single crew aboard a single bridge. Perhaps this could be done in a mission or 'timewarp' quest where party members are taken from their personal commissioned ship and transwarped onto the bridge of a ghost-ship or some other scenario where they can all work together as a unit rather than as a fleet.

I would be surprised if it wasn't available via client download.

it'll probably be both.

as for the rest, that huge stickied npc/pc bridge crew thread likely already has your suggestion in it somewhere, it's likely been examined to death in there too, with every possibility taken into account, all in a nice easy to read flamewar vernacular.

and i'm not sure what 'for simple purpus of job related and other' means, but it was stated that it won't be there because it'd be like designing several games all at once.

at a 600 mb file, should only be, at most nowadays, a two hour download... not bad.

but then what to do with the 300 dollars i had sitting around to buy the uber edition.

bills?

naw.

Even though I will definitely purchase a physical copy of the game, I think that it would be great to see it available for online download since that is more convenient for a lot of people and it would probably help to make the game more accessible.

Deffinitly buying the CD/DVD, but being in Australia we usually get the mmo's pretty late, so might have to download it first (if available).

Even if they had it for download, I'd still go out and buy (hopefully pre-order) the box, if for no other reason than to sit and look at it and say "sweeet":D

(here's hoping for a CE!)

I'd bet on it being DVD, not CD and I would wager the initial client will be upwards of 2 Gb, not 600mb. But, that's just my opinion.
