Hey everyone, I'm new here and have some questions, so I hope somebody has the anwsers.
Its pretty clear the Borg are going to play a big role in this game, so my question is, how will they work. Will they be able to adapt to your phaser and shield frequencies if you don't modulate them like in the show? And second, does anyone know how assimilation will work?

Any information that we have about the Borg right now is speculative, but I'd assume that the process of assimilation would be slower because otherwise the Borg would likely become insanely powerful after about the first day or so of the game being live . . . and that wouldn't be a good thing.

True. But what I meant was, what about members of your crew being assimilated, or players themselves being caught and assimilated.

Actually, I just heard a rumor that in the STO timeline, the borg have given up assimilation and are going to become a traveling vaudeville act.
And singing:
We are the borg!
Your biological and technological distinctivness
Will come to see the show!

I really think this is just going to have to be a "wait and see" feature. There's gotta be a few surprises, right?

So true, but it will defenitely be interesting to see how they handle that aspect of things.

Don't take a presentation trailer as factual stuff that will happen. As far as we know, Cryptic could be following what happened in the Star Trek Destiny novels, which means the Borg will be a rare event to happen in Star Trek Online. As far as the Borg and adapting go, well MMOs and invincible enemies don't mix well. It tends to deter players and actually makes them consider not playing, which for companies that's a bad thing. If the Borg do show up, expect them to be tough, but not unbeatable. And I doubt you can be assimilated either.

i think we should be able to go onto borg ships that have been damaged and explore them (that would be fun:rolleyes:)

Depending how well they do the borg ships, it could be one of the best experiences a player can hope for

how about if the borg transported on your ship you got force field on decks that can stop them?
like on a borg cube or sphere, that's what you see the most in voyager episodes in unimatrix zero in the class 4 tactical cube.
an other thing what would be the most greatest thing the borgs homeworld the place where they came from, and species 8472 rift in borg space. and transwarp portals, like that one in the end of voyager.
more ideas 'll coming up
