Q Continuum, a playable race............ [Archive]

I want to play as a Q. It would be fair for me to be allowed to play a Q because everyone should be able to play whatever they want....you should'nt have to make concessions for people who want to play regular "meat-bag" lifedorms like Fed-rats or Klingons. Also, the Devs could balance them......but, not too much........I still want to be "uber".

Anyone else?

LoL, thats funny. Yes it would be great to be able to manipulate the laws of physics at will and alter the the flow of time its self. That could be fun.

Sign me up! We could all go back in time and create a world of pure 1337 sp34k! I personally would love to watch the adventures of the 3n73rpr153 on it's 5 year mission to pwn all n00bs, seek out new ph4t l00ts, and search for the ever elusive bugs and h4xorz teh systemz!

THough it would be interesting to watch the GM's pop up all Q like. Even if Matrix ONline had some flawed systems and hugely repetitive gameplay, teh GM's there knew how to run a story. While I was playing Morpheus would show up and give a speech about resurrecting NEO. He actually brough ta digital copy of Neo into being while giving this huge elaborate show. It was awesome....of course there was the two guys screaming "GM! IT's A GM! LOLZ!!111!!"...that part kind of sucked.

I think this is a great idea. I don't know why people would be against it. Why does every faction need to be equal? People just don't want a challenge.

I hope that Q will make an appearance in the game. I don't think you could do a playable race as Q, it would get too boring to fast. It's fun to go idfka and iddqd on some imps in hell on mars, but then even that gets old after multiple runs. :(

The Q as a player race would work, except for one small detail.

In MMOs all players have to have a unique name or you can't sent them tells or add them to your friends list. How do you differentiate between Q and Q and Q?

...Sorry it hadnt been done yet. Q are overseers, which makes them very good Avatar for GM's.

Hmm, a race of unimaginable and unrivalled power arguably a godly race. Hell, sign me up - time to throw a Borg Tactical Fusion Cube here, maybe one there and lets add some Species 8472. On a more serious note I do hope that this game will not just be Federation and allies only playable as that would make it mind numbingly boring.

Honestly, I don't think it is a good idea to allow players to play members of the Q-Continuum simply because of the issue of game balance. If members of the Q-Continuum are as powerful in the game as they are in the television shows, then most players will want to play one solely because of their superiority over the other races; on the other hand, if members of the Q-Continuum are made weaker for the game to bring them more into line with the other races, then I feel as though the threat they pose would be considerably lessened and the game would not feel completely like Star Trek.

Playable Q.....bad idea. That's like a permissible way to pretty much hack a game and boost up your stats or get the best star ship or the best items right from the start cause you desire it.

We Q are not exactly a service oriented folk. I just don't think it would be realistic but still an interesting idea.

Agreed.

Q make great plot devices, are great as NPCs or NPCs possessed by GMs for some event or roleplaying or such. But CSRs offer a completely OOC-service and, as such, shouldn't have any direct IC representation. Just let them be GMs and don't try to force them into the universe somehow as their very nature is something outside of the game's world.

yeah, lol. there wouldn't be any concerns with balance. too funny though.

As neat of an idea as it is, I just don't see the Q being a play-able race anytime soon.

I would think it would be tuff to balance a race that can do anything, be anywhere at anytime.

I certainly think the DEVs should consider having missions where there is a change you may contact a Q. That would be cool.

But I don't think the missions or chance to encounter them should be statically driven.

Q of Borg though, hehe, that would be an interesting mix i think.
