I hope the game is multi threaded. Quad core 64bit processors are becoming common.

Jack already said in the dev chat that the game was built on the engine that Cryptic already built, which is why this game may only take two-three more years to make, instead of 5-6. That engine was designed for Windows 2000, so I don't think it'll be multi-threaded. I think it'd have to be heavily redesigned to take advantage of that and, at this stage, I don't think that's where their priorities are. I could be wrong, though.
multithreading could be an option for the future, when it comes to the last tweaking&tuning phase of developement.

I hope so it would certainly help sometimes when there are lots of details.

Multi threading already existed back then. And it is very (VERY) likely the client is already multithreaded. Considering it is not something that is specifically designed for quad cores, 'multi threaded' merely means the game has multiple threads running, and I wouldn't want to see anybody try to code an entire game on a single thread. Must be pretty horrible.

For some reason I am inclined to think that the game will be multi-threaded simply because of its scope, but even if it isn't now I could see it becoming so at some point down the line.
