What new technology will we see? Voyager brought back tons of new technology right?
1. transwarp capability
2. mobile Holoemitter
3. Ship-wide holoemitters

What else new technology do you think we will see in STO or do you hope to see in the 30 years plus Nemesis?

I'd like more advanced weapons and shields, and if we are going to have androids in crews there needs to be technology advances to explain 1,000's of Datas running around though I hope the ones we create aren't as advanced as Data. I just don't want to see weapons that cause threats like the Borg to be easily handled by one Science vessal, which Voyager was.

I definitely think that ablative armor should be prevalent, but beyond that there aren't any specific types of technology that I definitely would want to see in the game.

Can they even replicate the mobile emitter technology from... the 27th or 29th century?

Don't think so, I believe they can only repair it they can't make new ones, but perhaps that's changed in 30 years of studying the doctor"s.

It's the 29th. And while they shouldn't be able to replicate it, per se, they can reverse engineer it. They won't necessarily learn all of it's secrets, but they will advance holo tech just by doing so.

That reminds me, the Doctor should still be around. Wonder if he will make an appearance in the game. ;)

Not likely, unless they can hire out Robert Picardo for the voice, which I doubt.

Hmmm...
Cloaking Fed ships count as 'new' tech?

You have a point, but It might be a text based conversation and that could work. Also Mr Picardo hasn't been to busy as of late and I bet they could coax him into voicing a few lines for the game. Would be nice to use his voice for the ships computer.:p

BIG TREK FAN but I can't remember the name of the class of ship in the one episode of Voyage. It was a federation ship that could turn into three separate smaller ships... The episode where the doctor was transfered through a data stream to the Alpha Quadrant. I'd like to see those types of ships.

Hmm... what else? Better transporting capabilities?

DOH forgot about that.:(

Yeah! That ship! I imagine a ship like that would play like (I hate to say this but it's the only MMO that comes to mind right now) WoW's hunters. The smaller part(s) could be like pets that distract the enemy.

If Patrick Stewart can find time to do voice overs for video games, what's in Picardo's schedule that's so demanding?

Yeah, he has been the head of the Atlantis team on Stargate: Atlantis for a while now. He's hardly languishing around waiting for the next Trek merchandise/franchise.
That wouldn't be so much of a hassle, normally, but I think Cryptic has stated a lot that we really won't be seeing recurring characters from any of the series. While their reasoning was that most would be dead, I think they also wanted to save money by not having to hire a plethora of voice actors from the shows. Too pricey. So the Doctor would still be around, yes, but I doubt we'll see/hear him. Plus, I've played MMO's where main characters from movies were definitely not voiced by their actor counterparts. You get someone close enough who's cheaper, and everyone is semi-happy.

That show actually lasted past the first season?

Sorry, don't watch much Sci Farce channel any more. They are correct about Saturday night being "The most dangerous night' on that channel, it makes me want to ram my head through drywall, wedge it between two studs, wrench my neck around backwards and have Gary Coleman tickling me while Gilbert Godfrey taunts me.

Yeah, I don't like that channel much.

Except for when it comes to my favorite man-in-black with asthma....yes, I agree.

Personally, I would hope to see advanced weaponry, upgraded quantum torpedoes (photons were on the way out), and maybe a successor torpedo that has limited availability like the quantums did when they first came out. Federation stealth tech., type xi, or xii phaser arrays, regenerative multi-phasic shields or the ablative armor generators from Voyager (or even both), improved warp drives, and that kick-tailgate heavy cannon they had slung under the saucer on the Galaxy-X Enetrprise D in "All Good Things", and who cares if that future didn't happen, neither did the "Endgame" future in Voyager, but we still have that technology. I'm sure there's plenty of things I can't even begin to think of, but this will do for a start.

I think mobile emitters wouldn't be out of the question, if a 20th century washed up hippie can make one, an entire starfleet research team on Earth could probably recreate one. As for new technologies I expect to see I would have to say brand new shuttles, new hand phaser designs, new tricorders, and maybe the brand new EMH mark 30 for sickbay :D

I personally would like to see more ships with the firepower and maneuverabilty of the Prometheus and the Defiant. Maybe a combo of the two.... with all the sweet armor and shielding and weapons that Voyager stole / borrow / aquired / traded for on their way home....

Some Tachyon (sp?) weaponry or technology would be pretty cool too.... That surface has barely been scratched in the Star Trek universe...

How about the ability to combine various forms of weapons fire from multiple ships to create one super duper weapons fire! Every ship could focus their fire on a particular point and then create a unique chain reaction.
