Cryptic haven't made any specific announcements, anything from the news outlets is conjecture, likely based on the fact that Cryptic were working on Microsoft's cancelled Marvel Universe Online. As such it's likely their engine plays well with the 360 hardware.

Actually, I believe at the Q&A session in Vegas they said they were planning a PC launch, but that there was nothing technologically stopping them from developing for the platforms, or even allowing the platform people and the PC people to play together.
That's just my memory doing it's thing, though. I'm the first to admit when it's fuzzy, and it is. Someone can back me up?

I'd just be considerdd about less intuitive controls on a platform and whether they'd need to be on separate servers. I'm really not keen towards using my 360 for an MMO just yet. Aside from it just seeming 'environmentally' right. I don't want every game to go to the console, I enjoy some games sitting in my lounge chair and others at my desk.

No one is saying that they need to click every page and find the other xbox 360 thread, that is why there is a search bar, but if people are to lazy to even read the sticky threads then I doubt they will ever find the search bar.

Sometimes threads just need to be restarted anyways. I don't like seeing repeat topics show up, but if the topic has been dead for a week or so, who cares. Look past it. These forums are going to have new members every day for a while, and these forums are going to cycle topics, and if you nitpick every repeat thread, you'd have to do it to 3/4 of the entire forum. I'd rather deal with this than making a new member feel unwelcome because I absolutely have to point out they did something moderately lazy.

The PS3 and 360 are computers and both can use keyboard and mouse controls. So saying that the game is simple just because it is on a console is just silly. In one of the many interviews it was stated that there is no technological reason why the games can't be ported to the system after all.

I'm not going to ask people to search through the 150 pages of threads, and neither would I ask them to read 112 pages. I'd rather just be nice and helpful to new members, instead of setting the example we're going to nitpick them for everything they do.

Well, I have a chatpad for my 360, and while I do like it, the 360 would have to come out with a peripheral mouse and keyboard. Honestly, I don't know for sure Microsoft is ready to admit they can sell you a pretty decent gaming PC for 450 bucks. I agree with what I believe the original poster was stating. If the game can be played with a controller, it's just not the complexity I'm looking for.

I 100% agree with you I played FFXI on ps2 and I use a usb keyboard.

The 360 will never have mouse / keyboard support. Microsoft stated that up front way back before the 360 was released. They want people to have an even playing field when playing online - that means a controller.

I couldn't answer that question. I don't know. I just think right now, making an MMO on a console is a risky proposition. It could go either way. I personally just don't want to play an MMO with a controller in my hands, and the 360 is not going to have a keyboard and mouse. I'd buy a PS3, but there hasn't been a platform game released for it that I'm interested in...and there'd have to be more than one for me to buy it, and there's not a single one.

Well, my theory on that is a little more conspiratorial than Microsoft's outward explanation, but yes....no mouse or keyboard for the 360. Whether they're shooting themselves in the foot with that, I don't know. Again, some things I want to do at my desk with a keyboard and mouse, others in my living room with a lounge chair and a controller.

Haven't the majority of Star Trek IP based games found a home first and foremost on the PC?
The notion that a game is "simple" just because its on consoles is ill informed, it's entirely possible for Cryptic to develop each build with platform specific strengths in mind.

Having it for the 360 would be a nothe bonus for me to get another 360. Beyond that though I think that the 360 and PS3 should have it as well as the PC. It is the only way your going to appease the "mines better than yours" crowd... you know who you are :D

Gamepad + usb keyboard = mmo's play easy on consoles.

Yea this is true but you wouldn't need wasd when you've got the gamepad, keyboard will only be needed for chatting.

I can still remember way back when...when SWG was going to launch they said the same thing and had plans fot the PC and the original XBox. Suffice it to say it never made it to the XBox. Were I a gambler I would put my money on this game being PC only (or possibly some comp wiz could use a windows set-up on a mac).
Not to say it is impossible technically or otherwise, I just do not see it happening. And at the very least should it happen I do not think PC players will be in the same environment as console players. Again it is technically possible, but I do not see it happening.

Right now, I think MMO publishers are more scared of the console than developers, for certain. It will happen, but I have a feeling the next one will either come from a company that needs to take a risk to get it's name out there, or, the horror of it....EA....who probably could afford to lose money to explore the viability of it.
It's happening already Champions Online is released 04/2009 for 360.

Yep and I think depending on how that goes over will set the tone , but Sony has already made statements that all future Sony MMO's will be put on the PS3 and possibly the PSP (I dont see that one working well). Consoles are a HUGE untapped market for the MMO Devs and they would be stupid business wise to not try to tap into that market. Cryptic has said that they didn't have to "dumb down" champions not even a little bit", and with the power the 360 and PS3 have they should not have to.

I have an issue with that. If it is going to come out cross-platform then it needs to release at the same time for both platforms. Otherwise all the PCers gain a huge advantage in resource building and just about everything else.
Doing that would definitely polarize consolers and PCers. Gaming and Star Trek is better then that. The technology is readily available, I would expect a simultaneous release.
Also, pointing out the search feature is like being that guy who points out that big zit (or gorch, for our large foreheaded friends) you have, in front of all your coworkers.

You make it sound so easy.:) I wouldn't say the technology is "readily available". There's never been a game that's had multiplayer across three platforms... ever. Not to mention the difference in tools/APIs for each platform.

I am on my 3 rd 360 and have my first PS3 and I think my Playstation will only outlast because I dont use it all that much.......I blew my 360 up putting in countless hours myself into games like Oblivion and Assassins Creed and so many others, and soon fable 2,and my roomates did too when I was workin,so if they do put it out for both consoles,and I really think they will, to try and capitalize on what is surely goin to be a huge game ,even if its bad ,not sayin it will, but worse case even if its bad people will still clamour for this game and line out the door ....I know Ill be there with bells on.
