Sorry if someone has already made a thread asking this, but will this game ever become available on a mac? It seems like a very interesting game and I'm hoping to be able to play it.

Doubtful. Macs, like Linux based machines, aren't really made for gaming. Bootcamp might help, but the machinery is flawed, why develop a specific version for Mac's when your primary audience is on PC? But I digress(I don't want to make this a rant about Macs and Apple).

No Mac or Linux platforms currently. In the video section of the website, look up the 40 min Star Trek Convention video. IBack in the Q&A section - that is located in the back half of the video is where Jack answers the question of Mac/Linux and says no. Not sure if down the road it might be developed but for now they will not.

If you did want to play it on a mac, you could always duel boot it with xp or vista, then play star trek online on your shiney silver box of magic

Which is precisely why I never understood requests for Mac releases in the first place. Apple users already pay hundreds of dollars more for any given hardware setup just so they can use the Mac OS (which is certainly their choice). If they can afford to do that, $100 for a copy of XP certainly isn't much of a set back.
