Ships and Ranks

Yes I might be borg, but would like this post not to fall under that categorie...

We have seen that we will be able to board and fire off fazers inside other ships, though what does it take to be able to board another ones ship, do we need for the shields to be down, or...

If one boards a ship and wins the battle, is he or she able to fly away with the ship afterwards, can the ship be broken down and used in the building of other ships, or to be melted down and sold for profit...

one other thing is the ranks system, we know we can move up in ranks from captain, to fly bigger & better ships, but how will this be done, by gaining lets say bonus points with the faction we belong to by doing missions and exploaration??

what are your thoughts and ideas on this...

I would assume that the shields would have to be down in order to board someone else's ship, but Cryptic stated that you cant hijack someone's ship ... and by "someone" I mean a player not an NPC.

ok so then the only point of pvp would be just to destroy the other, instead of being able to use the resources of a captured ship...

Well, you also pvp to gain control of various sectors of space for resources. Its going to be more then just that.

Haha, I guess so ... at least for the moment. Until Cryptic releases some more info about the game, one can only assume.

Oh and Garak there made another good point ... you can control systems and resources

yes I know about fighting for control of other sectors, ect... but if we are going to be able to board a ship and fight, one would expect the stonger, more prepared to win, but if it happens the boarding party (agressor wins) we should then be able to use the ship as we see fit...

I dont think you can even board someone's ship with hostile intent. Correct me if Im wrong but wasnt it stated in a previous interview with Cryptic that the only reason to board someones ship is for social purposes? Razor if you are out there please help me with this one...

You can board ships and attacks crew members inside too look at the trailer. But I don't know what happen after you kill or capture all crew on that ship? I know the player that defeat the boarded ship can't take it.
